Recently, my mother’s house was subject to burglary. The thieves broke in while she was visiting my house, taking things as unusual as a bible, a frozen chicken and cheap earrings.

We said goodbye to March with the training on coaching techniques for six people from our local partners’ technical team in Suchitoto (Acorg, CRC and REDES).

Our Programme Areas

Local Exchange Systems

One of STRO´s principal lines of work is that of augmenting the amount of money that circulates within communities. To this end, different local exchange systems have been developed and tested in a variety of contexts.

Appropriate Technologies

One of STRO’s main objectives is to diminish and limit the flight of capital from the communities we work with. In order to do so, appropriate technologies for local realities have been developed, promoting the use and consumption of local materials. Our work seeks to reduce the net importation of fuels and of construction materials. To this end, we have developed two projects: Biofuels and Ecohouses.

Appreciating What is Ours

The main goal of the “Appreciating What is Ours” project is to achieve local economic development through the behavior change of economic actors in a specific geographical area – especially as related to their influence in the appreciation and use of local resources. Thus, the project is a campaign called “Appreciating What is Ours” that seeks to promote local production and trade.
