The Bartolomé de las Casas Center is a popular education facility run and inspired by Liberation Christianity groups. The center is committed to researching, creating and spreading new development alternatives and promoting more equitable and fair human coexistence.

The Center has been supporting product and service exchange processes in targeted communities for a number of years. The project sponsored by STRO, aimed to strengthen and complement barter networks in the area through a voucher system.

To stimulate the local economy, these vouchers were emitted using loans with favorable interest rates that could contribute to entrepreneurial activities and local production. Community stores also cooperated to ensure the circulation of the vouchers in the different communities. Organic agriculture was also promoted.
