puntoTRANSacciones (pTa) is a company that was created in 2008 with the support of the Salvadoran NGO FUSAI, and the sponsorship of a group socially-driven private investors.
pTa promotes the creation of a multilateral exchange circuit for businesses and consumers through a technological platform, relevant financial services, and highly qualified business consultants that are committed to the development of micro, small and medium enterprises in El Salvador.
The companies affiliated with the platform make purchases amongst themselves without using cash, but by cancelling out their purchases with the sale of their own products or services within their association. The commercial transactions are expressed in TRANS, through the internal payment in pTa (1 TRANS is equal to 1 USD). The participating companies have access to favorable credit lines in TRANS. TRANS are not convertible into cash, which guarantees that the purchasing power remains within the association, generating more business among the associated companies.
The TRANS payment system uses a technological platform that is similar to an online banking system, it was developed by STRO (Cyclos) and includes internet, mobile (online and SMS), and card payment modules.
Since 2010, a new consumer network has been incorporated (clubTRANS). This group is offered commercial benefits and competitive credit lines in TRANS.
