In Central America, STRO works directly with organizations and/or local groups, such as: neighborhood organizations, women’s associations, rural organizations, cooperatives, microfinance entities, local NGOs, producers’ associations, community commercialization networks, companies, local governments and religious institutions.

Our preference for these actors is due to their privileged understanding of local reality and problems. They are also the people that are in an ideal position to build trust and to promote the community’s participation in novel local socioeconomic development projects.

Given the diversity and complexity of factors that determine a region’s development, STRO promotes the creation of work networks with other organizations and people interested in exchanging ideas and knowledge in order to think about new development proposals. The “strategic allies” support local organizations directly or indirectly (through STRO) especially with capacity building and technical knowledge. Most of our strategic allies are organizations dedicated to research and technical assistance, universities, international NGOs and people with very specific areas of expertise.

Lastly, we have the support of both private and public donor organizations that believe in STRO’s values and principles, as well as those of its partners.
