FUNDEVI is a non-profit Honduran institution created through Decree number 188-2001, which defined it as an apolitical social interest institution with its own legal status and patrimony. It was the result of a tripartite agreement signed between Honduras’ Government, the German Bank for Reconstruction (KfW) and the Government of Sweden to institutionally transform social housing programs in Honduras. FUNDEVI has absolute financial, technical and operative autonomy; hence, it is not part of any government structure.

FUNDEVI’s mission is to support poor families’ efforts to solve their housing needs in both urban and rural areas, providing loans in conditions such that families are able to pay them back. In addition, it provides technical assistance in order to guarantee housing quality. It tries to constantly recover the money loaned so that it can be reutilized to help other families. It also cooperates with organizations and entities that may help expand and improve the services offered, especially with regards to the legalization of house properties and to improve basic urban services.

FUNDEVI seeks to be an independent financial institution that leads solutions to housing problems in Honduras, that presents the best credit options for the people that most need it and provides technical assistance for the improvement of housing.
